august?

Time for more apologizing. (And for getting used to a new version of WordPress. This is fancy!) I don’t know why I’m not knitting, and I don’t really know why I’m not blogging. But I’m not quite ready to give up on this space, and I hope you’re not ready to give up on me. I’m hoping to get back into a groove one of these days.

Until then, though, you get pictures of what we’ve been up to, both here at the lake house and further afield. Since I last blogged (in June?!), I’ve TAed an intensive 3-week summer course, joined my family for a week on the gulf coast of Florida, spent a weekend in the Catskills saying goodbye to a dear grad school friend who is moving/moving on to take a postdoc, given a paper at my first non-grad-student conference (yay!) and visited my younger brother in Colorado. (Whew!)

Want to see some of that? Here you go:

aug01

During that three-week course, Boh spent a lot of time entertaining himself.

aug02

And there were strawberries.

aug03

Cuddling the papers to grade…

aug05

Frolicking at a nearby park on our way to the farm.

aug06

First farm tomato!

aug07

Delicious.

aug08

Writing.

aug09

Bird-watching, coffee-drinking, breakfast-eating, all from the balcony of the condo my parents rented on the gulf coast of Florida.

aug10

Seashells collected on morning walks with my mom.

aug11

Beautiful beach.

aug12

A snapping turtle greeting me (and Boh — see his nose in the lower left-hand corner?) in the Catskills!

aug13

Catskills relaxation.

aug14

And some more.

aug15

Sam, my brother’s horse.

aug16

Colorado National Monument.

And now — just today, actually — home again, this time for awhile. Time to settle back into lake house life, which I’m hoping will include lots of writing…

Thanks for reading, friends.

  1. It’s good to see your fun. Never apologize for enjoying life instead of writing about it. :) Boh always cheers me.

  2. Welcome back! Sounds like you’ve had a fun summer. It’s hard juggling and getting back into the swing of things. We’re still here even if we don’t always comment.

  3. Sure did miss you and Boh, Amy. Sounds like a grand summer for you guys. As the summer days turn into fall and winter, I am sure your needles will be back in your hands with Boh’s head on your lap.

  4. Chezlizzie.com got me fired up to knit again after a summer of garden, garden and, oh, more garden. We moved the garden closer to the kitchen by 75 yards in response to 64! “Harriet” called me. Serious knitting with a good blogger. Maybe you? Glad you are back.

  5. Glad everything/everyone is fine. I figured you were just busy with life/school. Looks like you and Boh had a great time.
    Smiles,

  6. Some of the time it is just quiet head space that is needed. And it seems your life has been plenty full lately with all that you have done and are doing. So take the time needed and know that we are still here, reading along and sharing in your corner as you post. :)

  7. Don’t apologize! It looks like it’s been a very busy (and extremely awesome!) summer for you! I’ll always stick around this space, even if you pop in less frequently. I hope your knitting mojo comes back, though!
