rooster can haz lake house.

Or will, come June. (Photo courtesy of the anonymized posting on craigslist.) This means a few things: first, this rooster hereby declares that she will be so good about being frugal and thrifty this spring because come summer, she will want to furnish and paint a space that is about twice the size of her current home; second, I’m going to have a guest room/yarn room! (And an office!) But most awesome of all, I’m going to have a three-season porch.

I know you’ll all miss my bright green kitchen walls, so I’ll be sure to take lots of pictures in there between now and June.

The house became a possibility on Wednesday, and I signed a sublease on Friday. Still pinching myself. I’ve been so distracted by hoping all the pieces would fall into place that I’ve been the opposite of productive…but I’m okay with that.

I’ve gotten back on that horse today, with something wonderful to look forward to.

  1. That’s so exciting! I can’t wait to see what you do with it. It sounds like such a great space! J and I had a three season porch in Kalamazoo, and we still miss it (though our views were nothing like the ones you’ll have). Congrats!

  2. Oh very nice! Rooster deserves lake house! I’ve always loved that lake! Such a boost to one’s outlook no? And…. more awesome places to walk with Boh.

  3. WOW! So behind on blog reading (again…..!) but this is quite something to come back to. How amazing. I have wanted a porch ever since I first visited North America – we don’t really have them over here. I mean, we have things called porches, but it’s just a tiny covered area outside the front door with room to stand and wait under after you ring the door bell. I think I might start a one-woman mission to introduce proper porches over here.
I literally can’t get over how wonderful that looks! The lake! Wow! Congratulations on signing.

  4. That is really great news! That is a dream home. Good for you! Maybe you can paint some of the walls green to keep us happy? June is right around the corner- whoohoo.

  5. That is so exciting! And so perfect for writing and relaxing and just enjoy a porch and a lake. Yay!!

  6. I am SO EXCITED FOR YOU! This looks like an amazingly peaceful retreat–so perfect for you. I think there’s porch yoga in your future ;-)
